Sing the Genevans!
Welcome to our day of workshops for singers and accompanists of the Genevan Psalms!
Ancaster Canadian Reformed Church (575 Shaver Road) is hosting a series of workshops to help us better understand how the Genevan Psalms were meant to be sung. Our goal is simple: to strengthen and improve congregational singing of the Genevan Psalms.
Singers
No matter your skill level, if you want to learn how to sing the Genevans better, join us for one of the following workshops led by Mrs. Alisha Boeringa, a trained singer who has undertaken advanced studies in the Genevan melodies (no registration necessary – just show up)
10:00 AM OR 7:00 PM (doors open 30 minutes before)
Because of the potential numbers of people attending, please choose one or the other time slot but not both (the evening is a repeat of the morning).
Accompanists
Registered accompanists are encouraged to attend the morning workshop for singers and then stay with us for the remainder of the day. All CanRC churches in Ontario (and the ARC in Michigan) have been invited to send their accompanists (and any aspiring accompanists) and cover their costs, so please check with your church council or music committee to see if you have been registered. You must be registered to enjoy the meals and attend the workshops.
Registration closes on March 11, 2026.
Accompanists will be served lunch and supper. In-between meals, accompanists will hear a key-note address by Mr. Frank Ezinga on the principles and practice of accompanying the Genevans in congregational worship. Mr. Ezinga is a highly trained organist with many years of experience in leading congregational singing.
Following the address, accompanists will attend one of the either an organ workshop (led by Mr. Frank Ezinga or Mr. Martin Jongsma) or a piano workshop (led by Mr. Jonathan Kingma or Dr. Arjan de Visser).
